Pushing a Little Harder

Sometimes you have to push yourself to see if you can swim hard. Tonight I had to see how hard I could go before racing at the weekend. Slowly my knee has been getting worse again. I have used a foam roller a couple of times and I have some real sore areas in my thigh that makes me wonder if some of my problems are steaming from my quads.

Here is the session:

  • Warm Up
  • 200FC, 100BK, 100FC, 50 double arm backstroke
  • Main set
  • 25 easy bk kick
  • 100BK hard, but working on the turns on 2:15
  • 2 x 50BK on 60 hard, but working on the turns
  • Repeat the 100 and 2 x 50
  • 4 x 25BRS on 45 I did one BRS then changed to FC pull (my knee)
  • 100BRS on 2:30 (FC Pull)
  • 4 x 25BRS on 45 (FC Pull)
  • 100FC on 2 mins
  • 2 x 50FC on 55
  • 100FC on 2 mins
  • 2 x 50FC on 55
  • Turns practice (I was struggling then with cramp)
  • Total: 1575 m

I tried to push the backstroke, within reason. I was coming in around 1:15 ish on the 100s and 36 on the 50s. It felt ok, but as I am writing this I can feel some pain in my knee. Lots of rehab and foam roller in to come.

We will see what the weekend brings. I might withdraw from the 100 Fly, which is on Sunday, to try and give me knee chance to recover from the racing on Saturday.

Keep swimming

Michael
